During a Malignant Hyperthermia (MH) emergency, you can see a rapid increase in temperature of 0.5โ„ƒ every 15 minutes! ๐Ÿค’๐Ÿ”ฅ

Here is our guide to cooling during MH:

At 41.5โ„ƒ and above we begin to see cell death, which is why cooling is a key clinical priority after dantrolene administration. Active cooling has been associated with greater patient outcomes than dantrolene administration alone.

Targets ๐ŸŽฏ
๐Ÿ‘‰ Commence cooling if above 38.5โ„ƒ
๐Ÿ‘‰ Cease cooling at 38โ„ƒ

Methods ๐Ÿงช
๐Ÿ‘‰ Reduce ambient temperature
๐Ÿ‘‰ Retrieve 2L of IV Saline from fridge
๐Ÿ‘‰ Expose patient
๐Ÿ‘‰ Place ice bags to all exposed body parts
