Malignant Hyperthermia Triggers 🚩🚩

Malignant Hyperthermia (MH) is a life threatening hereditary disorder, triggered by some of our anaesthetic drugs! It’s essential that we remember the triggers so that we can avoid them in MH susceptible patients.

Here’s what you need to know… 😃✅

Agents that are NOT safe: ❌
👉 All volatile inhalational agents!
👉 Suxamethonium (depolarising muscle relaxant)

Agents that are SAFE: ✅
👉 Nitrous oxide
👉 Propofol
👉 Non-depolarising muscle relaxants
👉 Local anaesthetic
👉 Opioids and benzodiazepines
👉 Ephedrine, metaraminol
👉 All other IV anaesthetic drugs
